Archiving Policy

Preservation Plan

As a new OJS journal without ISSN at launch, Machine Learning and Applied Artificial Intelligence should begin with a practical preservation plan and expand to formal preservation services after registration milestones are complete.

Operational Backups

The editorial office should maintain scheduled backups of the OJS database, uploaded manuscripts, published PDFs, supplementary files, themes, plugins, and configuration files. Backups should be stored in at least two separate locations and tested periodically.

Article-Level Preservation

Each published article should have a stable landing page, PDF, metadata record, publication date, licence statement, citation information, and links to supplementary material where applicable. If DOI registration is later activated, DOI metadata should point to the article landing page on https://mlai-journal.com.

Field-Specific Materials

For this journal, preservation planning should account for configuration files, evaluation reports, validation datasets, monitoring plans, and supplementary risk assessments. These materials should be versioned, cited from the article, and checked for privacy, safety, copyright, and file-format risks.

External Preservation Roadmap

After ISSN/eISSN assignment and regular publication are established, the journal should evaluate PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS/CLOCKSS, Portico, institutional repository deposit, subject repositories, or other appropriate services. No external preservation service should be claimed until activation is confirmed.

Withdrawal and Record Integrity

Published scholarly records should not be removed except for serious legal, privacy, safety, or rights reasons. Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern should remain linked to the original record whenever possible.
